Abu Dhabi University Allocates More Than AED50 Million To Its Academic And Humanitarian Programs For The Current Year

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nayhan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and President of the University’s Board of Trustees, Abu Dhabi University (ADU) continues its humanitarian aid and social responsibility efforts which have established a culture of voluntarism among its students, faculty and staff members.

ADU has invested in building strong relationships with the community through the provision of high-quality education, workshops, seminars, scholarships and financial aid programs which ensure students’ access to an education regardless of their financial situation.

The university’s efforts include a selection of scientific research, cultural and voluntary initiatives that aim to promote a culture of humanitarian work and social responsibility and establish the values of inclusion and generosity.

One of the initiatives launched by ADU and in collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and Lulu Group International is a donation drive, in support of its Iqra’a campaign, that aims to support 300 eligible students to pursue their academic career at ADU. They also launched an initiative titled ‘For Sudan’ that aims to collect both monetary and in-kind donations which will be sent to Sudanese families.

Zakat Fund, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi University (ADU), have also launched the ‘Our Youth Our Responsibility, Our Zakat, Our Immunity’ initiative for the eleventh year in a row to raise funds for local and expatriate students with the goal to reduce their financial burdens. Since its launch, the initiative raised more than AED 68 million and extended financial aid to 3,130 students.

Ihsan Club, is another initiative launched by ADU that features several community initiatives and awareness campaigns, including those aimed at promoting, protecting and preserving the environment.

In addition, students of the Aoun University Club at Abu Dhabi University won first place at the level of state universities participating in the Aoun Competition for Community Service in its eighth session for the academic year 2020-2021, during a virtual ceremony organized by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.

Abu Dhabi University offers a wide range of scholarships and has recently announced that it has allocated more than AED50 million to scholarships and financial aid for the academic year 2020-2021, including additional financial support to students whose lives and education have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. ADU’s scholarship and financial aid programs have eased the financial burden of nearly 14,000 students since the University’s inception in 2003.
