In full compliance with the UAE Ministry of Education’s precautionary measures and protocols for the reopening of universities across the UAE, Abu Dhabi University (ADU) is gearing to kick-off the 2021-2022 academic year with a safe and securehybrid learning environment that will make it easier for students to thrive and succeed. On 29 August,ADU welcomedaround7,900 new and returning students to its upgraded, digitally sophisticated campuses in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, and Al Dhafra in its Colleges of Business, Engineering, Arts and Science, Health Sciences, and Law. The technology and protocols in place at ADU safeguard the safety of students, faculty and staff at the university, while enhancing the quality of learning, research and community engagement across all campuses. ADU’s enhanced hybrid learning environment will make it easier for students to balance and schedule their studies in a manner that enables them to succeed in their studies.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, ADUhas focused its efforts on providing quality education without interruption or pause. In the process, it has constructed a well-equipped hybrid education model, with substantial enhancements in technology, that combines in-classroom education with distance learning, enabled by the university’s digital platforms to ensure that the needs and expectations of students, staff members and the general public are being met. Considerable investment has also been made in training faculty and staff in the use of distance learning technology.
ADU is continuously advancing the quality of its technical facilities to ensure service optimization and more reliable network performance. This means the constant upgrading of its data servers, firewall protection and websites, both internally and externally. The university has also integrated Cloudtalk into its communication network, a cloud-based Etisalat telephony system that supports ADU’s online and hybrid learning experiences.
Professor Waqar Ahmad, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, said “Since its inception, Abu Dhabi University has made significant strides in delivering the highest quality of education within a safe and secure environment. Fully face-to-face teaching is a thing of the past. Responding to feedback from our students and teachers, we have established an extensive infrastructure that allows for a hybrid learning environment that combines in-classroom education with distance learning. As a result, we are proud that the teaching and learning experience of our faculty and students continued uninterrupted throughout the pandemic. In line with our ambitious goals to continuously enhance and expand our hybrid education model, ADU has invested heavily in IT infrastructure to provide consistent and seamless services to all members of the university. As a result, our new and returning students will be able to rely on our digitally-enhanced campuses across the UAE to make the best of their time at ADU.”
ADU continues to heavily invest in its capital equipment and facilities. The university executes a comprehensive maintenance regime across all its campuses every single day. These protocols include functional condition assessment and regular comprehensive testing for all its systems including water distribution, electrical, sewage, fire protection and detection, as well as the lightning protection system.
