The Library Deanship at the United Arab Emirates University, within the activities of the Innovation Month 2023, conducted a panel discussion on the challenges and prospects of the educational system development programs, which made a quantum leap in the field of education and scientific research. The event was attended by more than 150 students from various colleges, academic departments and disciplines, and several deans of colleges and chairs of academic departments.
The participants addressed the education programs and curricula-related topics, keeping pace with modern technologies, artificial intelligence, and scientific research. The following four speakers from the academic and administrative staff participated in the panel discussion:
Professor. Matthew Evans, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mira Garcis, Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Education, Dr. Fadi Al Najjar – Associate Professor at the College of Information Technology, and Prof. Sajid Kamal – CTO, Founder, and Investor of Applied Technology. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Jose Perrin, Director of the Big Data Analytics Center at the UAE University.
The speakers through ChatGPT discussed the future education challenges and prospects from the perspective of development of teaching and learning technologies, programs and curricula that keep pace with the requirements of the strategic vision to upgrade the educational system in line with the higher education development plans and programs, which are required by national development projects in all disciplines, graduate programs and scientific research programs and projects. The United Arab Emirates University gives priority in developing scientific research projects, through its various scientific centers, which include a group of researchers, experts and academics from faculty members and graduate students.
The participants also emphasized the significance of promotion of artificial intelligence programs, which is at the forefront of the UAE priorities and strategies, due to its positive results on the development plans and programs in all fields, and its impact on the various stages of education. They also reiterated that innovation Month activities enhanced creativity and innovation among various societal groups, departments and institutions, particularly educational institutions.
