The NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) campus turned purple in celebration of the graduating Class of 2019, and a spectacular fireworks display drew crowds of over 1,000 faculty and staff as well as students and their family members and friends.
The Galleria mall in Abu Dhabi also displayed a message of congratulations to the graduates, and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Headquarters lit up in NYUAD’s violet, both of which will be visible again this evening. This year marks NYUAD’s sixth Commencement ceremony, which will take place later today at its campus on Saadiyat Island.
These activities are part of the broader graduation celebrations across NYU’s global network with NYU celebrating their Commencement on May 22, and NYU Shanghai’s Commencement ceremony happening later this week on May 30.
NYUAD’s sixth Commencement will honor the achievements of the Class of 2019, the University’s largest class to date with some 275 students from more than 75 countries. The ceremony will include remarks from Paralympic ski medalist, Fortune 500 business consultant, Rhodes Scholar, former White House official, and best-selling author Bonnie St. John as well as NYUAD and NYU leadership.
