NYU Abu Dhabi Announces A Range Of Arts And Culture Events Throughout The Month Of November

NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is pleased to announce a program of artistic performances, exhibitions, and screenings at The Arts Center and The NYUAD Art Gallery. All events are open to the public throughout the month of November.

The Arts Center at NYUAD is a renowned performing arts center that offers compelling programming and presents distinguished professional artists from around the world, alongside student, faculty, and community productions. Its public events aim to enrich the cultural life of both the Abu Dhabi community and the University’s students through wider interaction with the general public.

The NYUAD Art Gallery, the University’s academic museum-gallery, presents work by internationally-established artists, curators, and scholars, to serve the intellectual and creative dialogue with students and the wider community, via topics of regional relevance and international significance. The main gallery space is a teaching museum, connecting the curriculum and the public. The Project Space, the Gallery’s auxiliary venue housed within The Arts Center, is an exhibition laboratory for community artists.

(1) Speculative Landscapes

Exhibition

Open until December 7

Location: The NYUAD Art Gallery

This exhibition takes viewers into the imagined worlds of four UAE-based artists. Through close study of their surroundings in the UAE, each of the artists here reflect on our shared futures: Areej Kaoud, Ayman Zedani, Jumairy, and Raja’a Khalid. Collectively, the artists in the exhibition explore the very concept of environment (natural, artificial, virtual). Each raises a question: how do organisms – whether human or other – create, survive, and inhabit our natural, artificial, and virtual worlds?
