Repton Abu Dhabi proudly celebrated an exceptional moment of academic achievement within its Humanities and Modern Foreign Languages Department, as three outstanding students were recognised at the 2025 Pearson Outstanding Learner Awards for their remarkable performance in the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations.
Among the honourees, Emel-Louise Sunbourg and Sebastian Zaharia received the prestigious distinction of achieving the Highest Mark in the World, while BingrouLi was honoured with the Highest Mark in the UAE in Chinese. Emel achieved this extraordinary recognition in both History and Geography, while Sebastian earned the same global accolade in History.
Their achievements placed them among the top-performing learners from 740 schools across 85 countries recognised in the 2025 Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards, reflecting their curiosity, perseverance, and academic excellence.
Principal of Repton Abu Dhabi, Steven Lupton, praised the outstanding efforts of the students and their teachers, saying:“We are incredibly proud of Emel, Sebastian, and Bingrou for their exceptional success at the Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs. The Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards celebrated the highest-achieving international students who demonstrated exceptional academic performance across Pearson qualifications, including GCSEs, International GCSEs, A Levels, and International AS Levels. These awards highlighted global, regional, and national excellence, honouring recipients who achieved:
- The Highest Mark in the World
- The Highest Mark in the Region
- The Highest Mark in the Country
High Achievers Awards Criteria
Repton were also recognised with High Achiever Awards for attaining outstanding grades in multiple subjects. These awards were presented to those who achieved:
- 5 or more GCSEs at grade 8 or above
- 3 or more As at AS or A Level
These accolades reflected the academic rigour and determination demonstrated by Repton Abu Dhabi’s learners, competing among thousands of students worldwide.Award recipients were presented with certificates of achievement from Pearson Edexcel, recognising their success at the highest levels.
