Repton Abu Dhabi is proud to announce that Safaa El Zeftawy, Head of the Arabic B, has become the first Neurolanguage Arabic Coach in the UAE and the second across the Middle East, as accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF).
El Zeftawy, with the support of Repton Abu Dhabi, has used this accreditation to initiate Arabic coaching sessions for non-native parents, as well as supporting the teaching and learning within the Arabic teaching body at Repton Abu Dhabi’s Fry Campus.
El Zeftawy has incorporated the Neurolanguage (NL) coaching methodology into her teaching approach to implement a positive cognitive learning experience, enhancing her awareness of students’ ‘Fight or Flight’ state of mind which is triggered when learning a new language. Through the NL coaching methodology, she will also be able to better identify students’ social and emotional triggers as well as xenoglossophobia (the fear of speaking a foreign language). El Zeftawy and the Arabic language department will be able to proficiently navigate students to practice a progressive and optimistic educated methodology when learning the Arabic language.
“Prior to using the NL coaching methods, students struggled to associate with the Arabic Language and felt frustrated. Since implementing my coaching strategies, students have begun writing letters to me expressing how much they love Arabic. Impacting a student’s learning experience in such a positive manner is the highest accolade a teacher can achieve, and I am humbled to receive such a positive result from the students,” says El Zeftawy.
El Zeftawy proactively began her certifications as an NL coach to better understand her students’ frame of thought, while they consume information presented to them. By implementing NL strategies into the Repton teaching methodology, El Zeftawy will be able to connect with them mentally and associate with students on their wavelength.
The Arabic Department’s hard work and determination has resulted in eagerness and willingness by all bodies within the Repton community to learn and grow as proficient Arabic linguists. The parent coaching sessions take place twice a week and have experienced an influx of enthusiastic parents since its inception in October 2019, giving them an opportunity to further bond with their children through the national language of the country.
Gillian Hammond, Principal at Repton Abu Dhabi says, “At Repton Abu Dhabi, we are consistently trying to develop unique teaching techniques that will enhance our students’ learning experience. El Zeftawy’s use of NL strategies and has played a crucial role in further creating an inquisitive and proactive learning approach amongst the students at Repton Abu Dhabi. We are proud to have the first Neurolanguage coach in the UAE as an essential member of the Repton family, and I would like to congratulate Safaa El Zeftawy on this incredible achievement.”
The coaching sessions at Repton Abu Dhabi’s Fry Campus are free to attend for all Reptonian parents and have strengthened the relationship between the Arabic language department and the whole Repton community, encouraging parents, teaching staff and students to develop a love of learning Arabic.
