Aldar Education, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain’s premier education provider, has honoured the hard work and dedication of the UAE’s first line defenders against coronavirus (COVID-19) by staging a dedicated ‘Thank You, Heroes’ day.
During the group-wide appreciation day on 2nd April, all students were asked to remember the dedication of healthcare and frontline professionals and share messages of support. More than 100 students of different backgrounds and nationalities recorded heartfelt messages of thanks, many in their mother-tongue, including videos, selfies and drawings for those working to protect the safety of the nation. Students also showed their appreciation by singing songs, sharing their messages during virtual assemblies, and sharing lives sessions of their recordings on Instagram.
The messages were compiled into a ‘thank you’ video and shared on social media as part of the #ThankYouHeroes campaign, launched earlier this week by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The campaign was launched to highlight the tireless effort of frontline healthcare workers working to protect those at risk during the global pandemic.
For Sahar Cooper, CEO of Aldar Education, the campaign was a chance to connect with the school community. Says Sahar: “Across the world, doctors, nurses and other frontline workers are working around-the-clock to stand up to this virus and selflessly serve others.
“The ‘Thank You, Heroes’ day was an important opportunity for us to celebrate the dedication of these unsung heroes with our students and send a clear message of thanks.
“Students of all ages and nationalities have shared some wonderfully heartfelt messages of appreciation and I’m incredibly proud of them for taking part. It has really lifted our spirits to see images of the children and their families. Not seeing the students in school every day is a strange experience for us all, but this exercise has built a sense of community and highlights that we ARE all in this together.”
11-year old Lujin Younis from Al Muna Academy, who shared a message on the compiled video, said: “The whole situation has made me realise the important role doctor and nurses play in our society. I just want to say thank you from my friends and family for keeping us safe.”
