The Council of the UAE University met today, under the Chairmanship of H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to H.H. the President of the UAE and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University.
The Council considered strategies and initiatives to strengthen the pioneering role of the University and effect its vision to serve the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
In accord with its fiduciary responsibility to investigate decisions that affect the University’s future, the Council received and reviewed a report on the University’s performance at a strategic level.
The Chair expressed his pride and confidence in the Centers which demonstrate the extent to which research and innovation is firmly embedded in the academic culture of the University.
The Council gave its approval to five new academic programs, four of which were research-intensive graduate programs. In further support of the University’s initiatives to attract talented graduate students, the Council approved the Chancellor’s Fellowship Awards scheme.
In accord with the Council’s responsibility for secure and accountable governance the Council approved the University Enterprise Risk Management Policy as a framework for assessing the University’s risk profile.
The Council looked forward to future announcements of the University’s research initiatives in the fields of technology, renewable energy, and food security. It was noted that these should make further contributions to the UAE’s National Agenda with respect to sustainability of environment and wellbeing.
